I felt compelled to write this based on Rev. Wright’s comments and actions during his sermon on the pulpit.  Realize the significance of this is directly associated with the choice of our next president and leader of the free world.    I personally believe we should review the philosophies, opinions, and life style choices of any political or Christian leader we select or elect.   The ability to better understand the man or woman we choose to follow will prevent the shock and realization of their future opinions and decisions.  Granted, we may on occasion be shocked or disappointed with what we assumed was a great choice.  Yet, we have an obligation to ourselves to understand that our choice should be one made with integrity and a knowledge borne from investigation, research, and experience.

I have viewed the newscast and listened to the vocal ravings (my free choice of words) of Rev. Wright during his sermon on the pulpit.  Without regard to Obama’s religious affiliation, choice of religious mentor, or political ideology, this is my take on what has transpired these past few weeks via TV.  You cannot dispute what you see and hear, however you view the commentary and action, even if it opposes your personal philosophy or opinion.  I was embarrassed and appalled, to put it mildly, by the verbal accusations, implications, and opinions of this so called reverend.  I thought that a spiritual leader guided people in their personal walk through life with God and also helped them to contemplate and emanate their perspective on life, people, and the world based on the teachings of the Bible.   A minister should, through his sermons, link his congregation to develop and stimulate a close relation to the spiritually healing role of Jesus and all that Christianity portrays and represents.   His undeniable visionary perception of the word…Christian….and Rev. Wright’s choice of topics for his “sermon” defies Biblical interpretation.  Not only did I feel that his words were not representative of a Christian minister …BUT, his implications represented a totally divergent interpretation.  His analysis of events, diseases, and people linking them to justify racial persecution and acts of hatred were totally unsubstantiated.  Can he support his claims with undeniable proof????   His gyrating motions while ranting and raving about discrimination were horrendously offensive to me personally.  I was taken aback when the camera panned out into the congregation and a large majority of the worshipers were drawn hysterically en masse into his emotional state and belief.   All of a sudden, it hit me once again how words, actions, and beliefs can be challenged by leaders and how impactful their interpretation are to others.  Also, I was frustrated by the reactionary extent of the congregation emanating their Christian (?) Ministers words.   I saw the extreme emotional reaction that a leader’s impassioned words and actions could evoke in others.  Is this what is referred to as the hypnotic affect of the Calf Path of the Mind syndrome?????   It is frightening that someone, through words and actions, can instigate and provoke extreme opinions, reactions, and attitudes.  It makes me wonder about the impact that leaders have on individuals who are weak of mind, purpose, and information.

Think about the implications when fanaticism is involved…it is too frightening to contemplate. Those who choose not to think for themselves but hold in reverence the opinions of others and meander through life focused on another’s words or opinions without question…again, Calf Path of the Mind.  I feel that Christianity should focus on our walk with God…our walk in faith, and our walk with Biblical understanding and reverence.  Today, the minister’s affiliation reacted to the publicity of Rev. Wright’s sermon…my response is he is supposed to represent, mentor, and unconditionally represent the Christian mindset as interpreted through the Bible.  A pulpit is not a forum for political issues and certainly not one that should be representing negative opinions on others and the world at large…it is and should always be one where the congregation learns the meaning and interpretation of Christianity in the purest religious sense of the word.  From our religious leaders we should learn the meaning of being fair, honest, good, righteous, loving, caring, forgiving and considerate people.  We should learn how to achieve all this and more, so that we are prepared to enter our final journey from earth to eternal happiness with our Lord and Savior.  We all need to step up and pray for that which will strengthen our world, country, leaders, and hopes and aspirations.  As Christians, we need to stand united in our faith and pray for those who do not have the commitment and understanding that our Bible evokes and translates into our lives from that belief.  You may dispute what I have written, or what I believe in, but you cannot dispute this…We are at the crossroads of a decision that will impact each and every one of us in the future…your choice should be made on facts, knowledge, and your faith.   The challenges of our world are many…but our Christian faith will forever guide us and empower us with HIS wisdom and knowledge…always.
